Core five movements explained
The Swedish method used at Elite Thai Massage is built on the five basic movements developed by Pehr Henrik Ling (1779–1839). These movements — applied as flowing strokes, kneading, friction, percussion, and vibration — are used to increase circulation and help move metabolic byproducts out of muscle tissues through deliberate direction and rhythm.
Therapists combine those foundational movements into continuous sequences tailored to where you carry tension. Rather than a fixed routine, the therapist adapts stroke length, tempo, and area focus during the 90 MINUTES session so the overall sequence supports circulation and the lymphatic-style strokes designed to encourage release from targeted muscle groups.
Pressure, oil, and technique
Pressure is applied firm but gentle, using compression and release to relax muscle tissue while maintaining client comfort. Your therapist will check and adjust pressure during the session; firm work is balanced with gentler strokes so deeper areas receive sustained attention without abrupt discomfort.
You will choose oil or lotion before the session. Oil allows longer, smoother gliding strokes, while lotion offers a tidier finish with more controlled friction. Either option supports the Swedish movements; therapists select stroke depth and lubricant based on your preference and the areas you want addressed.
Local convenience and scheduling
Our Koreatown / Mid-Wilshire location near Wilshire/Western Metro station and the Wiltern Theatre makes short visits practical for busy Los Angeles schedules. Easy transit access and nearby restaurants mean this 90 MINUTES appointment can fit before or after work, or into an evening out when you’re in the neighborhood for shows or dining.
We serve clients from Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Hollywood, Silver Lake, Echo Park and Downtown Los Angeles, and evening and weekend availability accommodates late-day bookings. The Mediterranean climate here — warm summers and mild winters — keeps year-round demand steady for sessions that focus on circulation and relaxation after busy urban days.
