How cups are applied
Cupping at Elite Thai uses suction cups placed on the skin to lift and gently stretch the tissue beneath. Your therapist will place cups on the spots where you hold the most tension, applying and adjusting suction to create a targeted pull. This approach is used as an add-on to a traditional massage and intentionally feels different from hands-on pressure.
Cupping technique is adapted to what you report and what the therapist finds by touch. Cups can be moved, left in place, or removed during the session; therapists monitor skin response and will check comfort throughout. Because it's an add-on, your therapist will fit cupping into the flow of your existing treatment, choosing cup placement that complements hands-on work.
What you'll feel during
Cupping produces a different sensation than rubbing or kneading: suction lifts tissue and creates a gentle pulling feeling where the cups sit. Many clients describe a pronounced sensation on the back and shoulders, especially in areas that are chronically tight. Your therapist checks in during application so the intensity is adjusted for comfort rather than pain.
Because cupping can leave temporary marks, therapists will explain what to expect and where cups were placed. It should not replace hands-on techniques but can make some muscle areas feel looser afterwards; results vary by person. If you have questions about skin sensitivity or marking, tell your therapist before cups are applied so they can adapt placement and suction accordingly.
Scheduling and local convenience
Cupping is offered as a $20 add-on and is scheduled within your existing massage appointment; ask at booking or during check-in if you want it. Our Koreatown / Mid-Wilshire location is convenient for clients using Wilshire/Western Metro and major bus routes, making short before- or after-work appointments practical for those commuting across Los Angeles.
Evening and weekend foot traffic from nearby restaurants and nightlife makes late-day bookings popular, so we recommend requesting cupping ahead of time when possible. Proximity to the Wiltern Theatre and the Miracle Mile museums also makes cupping a good addition when you have an event or show nearby; scheduling helps ensure a therapist has time to include the extra step.
